52 Week Speaking Challenge

What’s the 52 Week Speaking Challenge?

This blog is a documentation for my 52 Week Speaking Challenge. It’s a challenge I set for myself to speak at least once per week for all 52 weeks of 2012.

I decided to do this because I want to accomplish a few things. First, I want to become the best speaker I can. I’ve been speaking for over 8 years now but there’s always a new word or technique I learn every day and as a professional speaker, I want to be able to give the best to my audiences.

I’m also beyond passionate about marketing, communication and leadership.

I also want to be able to get out there and share what I know with people.

Finally, I’m working on both an HPL (High Performance Leadership project) with Toastmasters to earn my 3rd DTM (Distinguished Toastmaster) designation and also my membership to NSA (National Speakers Association).

Here’s how it works:

I have to give 1 speech every single week in 2012. I will speak at conferences, or to companies or organizations, and I can’t give a speech to somewhere I’ve already been before. Well, I can speak at the same place more than once this year, I just won’t get “credit” for it.

The challenge will be to find 52 places to speak at. If you know of any conference, event, company or organization that needs a speaker on the subjects of marketing, communication or leadership, please email me at cathey@puramarketing.com.

Week #6 – Feedbackers

Feedbackers is an advanced Toastmasters club that meets monthly. What a great concept for a club. When you speak you get three verbal evaluations. One person gives you feedback on your overall speech structure, and how well you stuck to the objectives of the speech. The other two give you input on specific criteria, like …

Week #5b – Future Stars

I got another chance to speak this week. It was at Future Stars, the youth communication and leadership club I started 4 years ago. Since I merged the group with another youth group, the attendance has become quite high and I’ve taken on the role of one of the 4 coordinators. I was impressed with …
